Vancouver Harbor at Dusk

For this week's Scenic Sunday post we're going back to the exact same spot we visited last week, Vancouver Harbor. This time the photos are taken at dusk (all handheld as I didn't have a tripod - it can be done if you've got a fast lens, even with a low-end DSLR like mine). The lights on the hill in the back of this first one is a ski area, although it wasn't operating in the summer.
Here's the gas station for boats.
You can see the Lion's Gate Bridge lit up in the middle of this one.
And finally, I enjoyed seeing the seaplanes here - that's not something I'll see in my part of the world!

  2. Fascinating shots of beautiful night views! I think I know how you were excited with these scenes coming from the heart of the mountains as I‘m always excited to see the sea in my hometown Kobe since Nara is surrounded by the mountains.

  3. These are very good pictures. I am surprised they are so clear without a tripod. I can’t take night pictures with my Nikon D40 but I can with my other camera which is not a DSLR, my Sony. I like the last one with all the building lights and the sea plane.

  4. Gorgeous captures, Al! I do love your night shots! Beautiful place! I've had pretty good luck catching some shots without a tripod -- I have one, but somehow never have it with me when a great night shot is suddenly available! Hope you have a great weekend! Give Socks a hug from Sam and I!

  9. Really nice shots Al, like the "blue hour" shot. I think any DSLR is more capable in low light conditions with or without a tripod, as apposed to a compact camera. Thanks for sharing:)

  17. You did a super job with these! I don't think I have a fast enough lens to do this without a tripod.
